We Rot from Within

Canvas, Canvas fabric, Oil and Acrylic paint, Wire, Plaster, Foam board, dried plants, Mesh Cloth

A 2.5D mixed-media piece challenging the glorification of binge eating disorder. Hyperrealistic, overripe fruits sculpted from plaster and aluminum foil erupt through a girl’s ribs, fracturing them further as flowers and red spills emerge from within. Despite this visceral imagery, her expression remains demure, creating a disturbing contrast between percieved beauty and unknown suffering that needs a second look to recognize. Through sculpting and painting, I explore how aestheticized appearances whether through social expectations or media can conceal painful realities.
